✨Grammar Point

几jǐ岁suì？ = How old?

To ask someone's age, say 你nǐ几jǐ岁suì？. To answer, say 我wǒ〇岁suì。. 几jǐ is used to ask about numbers smaller than 10. Do not try to guess pronunciation from English spelling — always use pinyin!

  • ①你nǐ几jǐ岁suì？（How old are you?）
  • ②我wǒ十shí岁suì。（I am 10 years old）

两liǎng vs 二èr

When counting things or ages, "2" is 两liǎng (not 二èr). The digit "2" on its own is 二èr.

  • ①两liǎng岁suì（2 years old）
  • ②十shí二èr（12 uses 二èr）
