谷歌,你好
gǔ gē , nǐ hǎo
Google hello

This phrase literally means "Google, hello." While not a common standalone greeting in everyday conversation, it can be used to directly address the company Google or, more practically, as a less common way to interact with a Google Assistant device.

When to use it

Neutral. For activating a Google Assistant, the English phrases "Hey Google" and "Ok Google" are widely recognized and often preferred, even by Chinese speakers. Their direct Chinese equivalents are also used.

How to pronounce it

Sounds like "GOO-guh, nee-HOW." The first two syllables are pronounced with first tones. "你好" has the tone sandhi, so it's pronounced "ní hǎo."

Other ways to say it

  • 嘿 Googlehēi GoogleHey Google (common for assistant activation)
  • 好的 谷歌hǎo de gǔ gēOk Google (common for assistant activation)
  • 你好 谷歌nǐ hǎo gǔ gēHello Google (direct address, less common for assistant activation)

Pro tip: For interacting with the Google Assistant, native speakers often use the English activation phrases "Hey Google" or "Ok Google" directly, as they are universally recognized by the devices.
