POINT 01
(1) Adverbial Modifiers
Adverbial modifiers modify verbs or adjectives. Common types include adverbs, prepositional phrases, and adverbial phrases formed with "地".
Subject + Adverbial Modifier + Predicate + Object
- 我很高兴。(adverb)
- 他爸爸妈妈都来。(adverb)
- 他在图书馆看书。(prepositional phrase)

(2) Serial Verb Constructions
A serial verb construction is a type of verbal predicate sentence. When a subject is followed by two or more verbs (or verb phrases) forming the predicate, this is called a "serial verb construction."
Serial Verb Construction (1) "... and then ~" / "go to ~ in order to ..."
The verbs appear in the order the actions occur. The action of Verb 2 explains the "purpose" of the action of Verb 1.
Subject + Verb 1 (+ Object) + Verb 2 (+ Object)
- 妈妈去商店买东西。(Verb 1 + Object 1 + Verb 2 + Object 2)
- 我去告诉他。(Verb 1 + Verb 2 + Object)
- 我去他宿舍看他。(Verb 1 + Object 1 + Verb 2 + Object 2)
